The wait is over. After years of anticipation, dreams, and persistent hope from players across the continent, Africa has officially been included in the Call of Duty Mobile World Championship for the first time in 2025.

This monumental inclusion marks a major step forward for African esports, providing players with a chance to compete on a global stage alongside the best teams from North America, Europe, Latin America, Japan, and India. With a massive $1 million prize pool up for grabs, this year’s competition promises to be the most exciting yet.

A Competitive Roadmap Like Never Before

The 2025 Call of Duty Mobile season kicks off on April 25 with in-game qualifiers. The championship is structured in five stages:

Stage 1: Solo Ranked Play
Players from all eligible regions, including Africa, will compete in solo ranked matches. High-performing players will qualify for the next round.

Stage 2: Team Ranked Play
Players form teams and compete in ranked matches. Only the best teams will move on to Stage 3.

Stage 3: Regional Qualifiers
From each region, including the newly added African region, 64 teams will be whittled down to just 16. These top squads will then clash in the Stage 3 Finals, where the best 8 teams advance.

Stage 4: Group Stage Showdowns
The top 8 teams from each region will be split into two GSL-style groups. They’ll face off in best-of-five matches, with the top two teams from each group progressing to the Stage 4 Finals.

Stage 5: The World Championship
This is where it all comes together. The best of the best from around the world, including Africa for the first time, will battle in a two-day double elimination bracket to determine the 2025 Call of Duty Mobile World Champion.

A New Era for African Esports

Africa’s inclusion in the championship is more than just a competitive expansion—it’s a landmark moment for the continent’s growing esports scene. Local players now have a direct path to global recognition, sponsorships, and the opportunity to compete for life-changing prizes.

This move acknowledges the rising talent in Africa and signals a commitment from game publishers to include the continent in major esports ecosystems.
